What is Floating Support?
Torfaen Mind offers a service to individual's living in their own homes in the community. Our aims are to enable people to live independently in their own home, to manage their mental health, to gain quality in their everyday life and maintain their tenancies.This tenancy based service is designed to:
• Enable you to live independently in your own home
• Enable you to manage your mental health
• Support you to gain quality in your everyday life
• Enable you to maintain tenancy
• Support you to access other services
• Support you to claim benefits/budget/manage your money
• Enable you to develop life skills
• Support you to improve your confidence and self-esteem
• Provide emotional support for you
• Support you to develop your social networks and access activities
• Provide you with other practical support
About our service:
• We provide support through the local authority‟s Tenancy Support Scheme (TFS)
• We provide support through Torfaen Mind scheme
• Telephone Monitoring scheme – this is provided to all individuals who have accessed the floating support service
• The M.O.S.T scheme (Monitoring and Observation) is a longer term, low level support scheme encouraging further independence

Floating Support service user’s story:
“When floating support first worked with me 6 years ago, I was as low as you could ever imagine, I was going through a very difficult divorce and was on the verge of losing my home, my self esteem was at rock bottom and I really felt I had no one to turn to and the answer to my problems could only be solved with me taking my life! Floating support literally turned my life around, they supported me to sort my finances out and I now I own my home, my divorce was finalised last year and I actually cried with joy which is something I would never have foreseen, my self esteem is near enough 100% and I now volunteer in the wellbeing centre, I still have my bad days but I know there is always someone willing to listen and that makes a huge difference, I really can’t thank them enough!”
