Our Story
How we’ve been fighting for better mental health in Wales for over 40 years with our campaigning and support services.
Supporting people with mental health problems for over 40 years
From October 2023, Torfaen & Blaenau Gwent Mind, Mind Monmouthshire and Newport Mind merged to become Mind in Gwent(MIG). We have successfully supported people with mental health problems through a range of services and we work holistically to support people to successfully manage their mental health and wellbeing and to live as independently as possible.
For over 40 years we have provided an extended service ‘reach’ from different locations across the county boroughs of Torfaen, Blaenau Gwent, Monmouthshire and Newport, working with people in the heart of the communities in which they live.
We are an independent charity and are affiliated to the national charity Mind. We are keen collaborators in working to address the mental health challenges many people face. Since merging we have regular meetings to share best practice, jointly feed into local and national consultations and work on joint projects.
We can also offer the provision of additional services, including training and advocacy services through our trading subsidiary Mental Health First Aid Wales.
