Mental Health Advice and Assistance
(Blaenau Gwent only)

Blaenau Gwent CBC Social Services Information, Advice and Assistance (IAA) Team was developed as part of the Health and Social Care Wellbeing Act 2015 and Torfaen and Blaenau Gwent Mind has a staff member jointly working in the team delivering the service.

The Team comprises of Social Workers, Wellbeing Co-Ordinators, Health and Wellbeing and Support Workers working in Mental Health, Domestic Abuse, Drug & Alcohol, Housing, Safeguarding, Occupational Therapy, and Community Resource Teams.

Both Torfaen & Blaenau Gwent Mind and Blaenau Gwent CBC are committed to raising awareness, and reducing stigma associated with mental health.  Our aim is to provide information, advice and assistance to anyone affected by periods of emotional distress or mental health issues.

 

Our Mental Health Support Worker is available to offer:

  • Emotional Support

  • Sympathetic Listening

  • Support to identify new opportunities to enhance mental wellbeing

  • Promoting an understanding and management of each person’s mental health

  • Provide mental health literature and information about services and opportunities that could improve wellbeing.

Referrals

 

Referrals into the Team come from individuals, families and professionals such as GPs, Gwent Police, Hospitals and Children’s Services.

Referrals can be made directly into the Team and these are screened and allocated to the most appropriate service.
