Sanctuary

The Community Sanctuary model provides an alternative venue in which to receive help and avoid the need to access core mental health services.

Please note that our Community Sanctuary service has now ended. If you need urgent mental health support between 9am and midnight, please dial NHS 111 and press 2 for mental health when prompted. This will connect you with a staff member at Aneurin Bevan Health Board who will be able to assist you.

Our Community Sanctuary ran between November 2021 and November 2022 and provided an alternative venue in which to receive help and avoid the need to access core mental health services. The focus for all aspects of our service delivery was a holistic person-centred approach, in a therapeutic setting and in a psychologically informed environment.

We provided on-site and virtual support to people experiencing emotional distress; offered a ‘place of sanctuary' to people at risk of deteriorating mental health, who may have required emotional and practical support, advice and signposting, delivered by our staff team based at our Wellbeing Centre in Pontypool.

This service has now ended and anyone requiring assistance with their mental health can either call our Day Services on 01495 757 393. Or call the NHS 111 line for access to mental health support (Option 2) from Aneurin Bevan University Health Board staff.

We are happy to talk to professionals across the statutory and voluntary sectors about how the Sanctuary works and how the service may help and assist those that you are working with.

Please feel free to contact our staff team by email at firstcontact@torfaenmind.co.uk or by phone on 01495 757 393 to discuss the service model.
